Hayes & Yeading United Football Club

Hayes & Yeading United have been drawn away to Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the first round of the Velocity Trophy (league cup) with the tie scheduled to be played by 20th September so I would expect a provisional date of Tuesday 18th September for this fixture.

Manny Duku, who last season broke United goalscoring records with 39 goals in all competitions, 32 in the League, has today signed for League Two Cheltenham Town.

The Dutch-born striker joined United from Southern Premier side Banbury United in the summer of 2017, having previously played for Chesham United and Kings Langley. In his single season at the SKYex Community Stadium he flourished and developed into the most prolific striker in the Division. He also became a firm fan’s favourite for his goalscoring ability and his amiable nature.

Hayes & Yeading United Chairman Tony O’Driscoll said of the move:

“I’ll be sad to see Manny go as we’ve built up a great rapport in the past season and whilst the club is always reluctant to lose players, especially goalscorers, Manny was been watched by many scouts last season so we knew it was a possibility. When a serious offer came in, the club did not want to stand in the player’s way of playing professional football in the English Football League.”

Hayes & Yeading United manager Paul Hughes added:

“Manny becomes the second player in two seasons from this club to make the step up into the Football League and we hope he flourishes at his new club as much as Tom Broadbent has at Bristol Rovers. It says so much about Hayes and Yeading United that players who have had a few seasons with other clubs with limited success, move here and quickly develop as players and get the platform and ability to make the move into the pro game.”

Hayes & Yeading United Vice-Chairman Dev Jassi commented:

“Manny leaves with our best wishes. He’s been a great asset to the club in his short time here and now he leaves for a substantial fee and for a club record which will help us develop the next crop of young talent already coming through this club.”

Paul Hughes has recently added five more names to the United squad for the upcoming season.

Four are familiar faces as they return from last years campaign in the form of Priestly Farquharson, Michael O'Neil, Manny Folarin and Ola Olajubu. The new face of the five has played between the sticks in United's last two friendlies and we welcome goalkeeper James Shaw who joins from Burgess Hill Town.

Next Tuesday's friendly scheduled to be away at Harrow Borough (24th July) has now been switched to our own 3G pitch due to the unavailability of the Earlsmead pitch.

As always, viewing of the game is from behind the cage with no catering available.

Just hours after releasing the new season fixtures, the Bostik League had to make a change to fixtures scheduled for Saturday 29th September as several teams in our division, including our opponents Chalfont St Peter, will be taking part in the FA Trophy Extra Preliminary Round that day. This fixture for United will now take place on Saturday 27th October.

Also on the move is our home game against Bedfont Sports that was scheduled to be one of only 2 games in our division on Boxing Day. To give players, officials and supporters a Christmas break with their families, this game has been brought forwards to Saturday 22nd December.

The Bostik League have today unveiled our fixtures for the forthcoming campaign and this sees United open with an away trip to Cheshunt on August 11th.

With a programme pretty much devoid of midweek fixtures at present, our second game sees a home fixture on August 18th where Egham Town will be the visitors to the SKYex.

A full fixture list can be printed from the "Printable Fixtures Page" tab just off to the right, this file is updated throughout the season to encompass fixture changes and results etc.

Hayes & Yeading United have been drawn away in the opening fixtures of both the Emirates FA Cup and the Buildbase FA Trophy.

United will travel to either Holyport or Brimscombe & Thrupp in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday 25th August while the Buildbase FA Trophy sees us travel to Essex to face Barking on October 13th.

Both games will have a standard 3pm kick-off.

The Bostik League have announced on their website that our new season fixtures for the South Central Division will be released at 9am on Thursday 19th July, watch the clubs Twitter account for instant details of the opening games on that day.

Hayes & Yeading United Manager Paul Hughes today unveiled three more additions to his rapidly expanding squad ahead of the new campaign.

Striker Kaan Fehmi returns from last seasons squad and is joined by fellow striker Lee Barney who arrives after ending the season in goalscoring form with Evo-Stik South East Champions Beaconsfield Town.

The third is another familiar face as Josh Chamberlain returns to the United midfield after departing early last season due to work restrictions which saw him spend some playing time with Berkhamsted.
