Ruislip Manor 1

Half-Time: 1-2 Referee: ?

A comprehensive victory by a strong Hayes & Yeading United line up allowed the club to ease through to the second round of the Middlex Premier Cup.

United included eight players with first team experience this season and two of those linked to create the first chance when James Edgerley took on two defenders and squared for Kieran Knight but his goalbound shot was blocked.

Ruislip Manor sprung a surprise in the fifth minute when they took the lead. A Michael Walker corner caused a scramble at the near post and Neil Fyfield put an end to it by slamming the ball in off the far post.

Miles Jones seized upon a mishit goal kick by keeper James Christian and shot just wide of the goal and Edgerkey blazed over from a good position after good work by Rhys Price as United sought a quick reply. But Leigh Johnson was inches away from extebnding Manor's lead when he shot across the face of goal from Walker's pass.

Tupenda Nymandunda cleared a Knight shot off the line but soon after, the scores were level as Price converted Edgerley's low centre with a low finish to wrongfoot Christian.

Christian braveley blocked Michael Barima's effort when he was put through by James Mulley and he did well to smother Jones's long shot, but in first half stoppage time, Jones slammed another long range effort into the top corner well out of Christian's reach to herald his extravagent celebration routine.

Eleven minutes into the second half, United extended their lead when Knight latched onto Mulley's pass and diverted the ball into the bottom corner. He will be disappointed not to have added to the lead when Barima's fierce shot was spilled by Christian but he somehow blazed over from right in front of an open goal. He made amends in the 67th minute when Mulley burst through and looked to have made the wrong decision in electing the pass over the shot, but Knight retreived the ball and rammed it into the bottom corner.

Substitute keeper John Peacock did well to parryGeorge Mapes's shot after Jonathon Omisore had put him throguh but almost immediately, Christian emulated that save with a fine block from Edgerley after the wideman had cut in from the left.

The scoring was completed with six minutes left on the clock and it was Edgerley who got a deserved goal thanks to the determination of Price to rob the defender and cut in from the bye line to pick him out in front of goal.
