United started well and dominated the home side during the early stages of this Capital League fixture by regularly winning the first and second balls.
Andy Yiadom broke from the midfield by retrieving the ball and lobbing it over the Ashford defence to Daniel Wishart who shot at the home keeper.
On eleven minutes Hayes & Yeading were awarded a free-kick which was taken by Yiadom and when the Ashford defence failed to clear debutant Omar Garcia nipped in to score his first goal for the Club.
Ashford soon after had a free-kick just outside the area but they found the irrepressible Delroy Preddie in fine form.
In the 21st Minute Nathan Webb ran through the Ashford defence and despite being fouled on two occasions referee Mr Downey played an excellent advantage as the ball fell nicely to Daniel Wishart who fired into the top corner of the home side's net.
United's domination of the first half continued and the third goal arrived on 34 minutes when Wishart used his strength to out muscle former teammate Josh Andrew before hitting a fierce shot from 25 yards that gave the home stopper no chance.
The second half was a totally different game as Ashford came out at a quicker tempo and finally started to create some chances of their own. On three separate occasions the home side latched onto sloppy defensive play by Hayes & Yeading but they could not find a way past the excellent Preddie in the United goal.
Hayes & Yeading did eventually scored a fourth as the game drew to a close. Preddie kicked long into the Ashford half which found Wishart who raced onto the ball and netted his third of the game through the keepers legs from 18 yards out.
